The objective of this research was to determine and find out the proper mode in beef production in Western Highland of Vietnam. Two beef production modes were allocated as the traditionally conventional grazing and timed grazing modes. The experiment was carried out in Gia-Lai and Dak-Lak provinces. The investigation was performed in 54 holds; total of 897 beef crossbreds, in which, 374 reproductive cows, 2 breeding bulls, 366 beef crossbred calves from birth to 24 months old were monitored and gathered data from Jan 2017 to December 2020. The prices of feeding materials and bank interest at provinces were applied at October 2019. The procedures of Descriptive statistics and GLM in MINITAB16 were used for data analysis. The results indicated that the annual surplus per cow acquired in 9.15 million VND in timed grazing modes, whereas 7.12 million VND in Traditionally conventional grazing mode. Expenditure of beef prodution in timed grazing mode was higher but brought about the higher economic efficiency than beef production in the traditionally conventional mode. It is concluded that the timed grazing mode of beef production was the most proper choice in Western Highland. This mode should also be taken into account for application in this region.
