An assessment of actual situation of beef cattle production in Thua Thien Hue province
The objectives of this investigation were to assess the current status of beef acttle production, the development and applicability of newly technological advances in beef cattle production in Thua-Thien-Hue province. With the method of using standard questionnaire suitable for rural researchs to survey. A total of 70 households raising beef cattle and 371 cattle heads have been surveyed, conducted and collected data in 5 districts (A-Luoi, Phong-Dien, Huong-Thuy, Huong-Tra and Nam-Dong districts) and Hue city, since October to December, 2021. More than 10 year experienced investigators in rural research in livestock prodcution were participated into this researched survey. Minitab16 (2010) software was applied to analyze the ordinal and continuous data, they were analyzed by using the Proc of descriptive statistics, while nominal or categorical data wereanalyzed by using Proc Tables. The results showed that beef cattle production in Thua-Thien-Hue province was characterized by small scaledhold, traditionally extensive farming system, basically natural dependence, however it tends to utilize newly technological advances such as new beef breeds, forage, reproductive technologies. Beef breeding components were formed from crossbreds of BBB x Lai Sind (BBBLS), Brahman x Lai Sind (BrLS), Red Sindhi x local yellow cattle (LS), which make up the majority of households produced the crossbred cattle to get beef. The groups of crossbred cattle mentioned above may bewell developed in Thua-Thien-Hue farming conditions. The conclusion showed that this is an area with promised potential and prospects for applying new technology to develop beef cattle production towards commercially commodity production.
