Evaluation of growth performance of imported Senepol cattle born in Bavi from birth to 18 months old
This study was conducted to evaluate the growth and development ability of Senepol cows born and raised in Ba Vi, Hanoi. The number of 42 calves from birth to 18 months old were included in the study and monitored for growth and weight gain in the period from birth to 18 months of age.
The results showed that: The average weight of calves born in Ba Vi was 31.88 kg (male calves 32.52 kg, female calves 31.00 kg). The weight of calves at 3 months old reached 114.95 kg in male calves and 112.07 kg in female calves and the mass of calves at 6 months old was 178.06 kg in male calves and 170.25 kg in calves. in calves. At the age of 9 months, the weight of male calves reached 211.94 kg and female calves were 190.66 kg. By 12 months of age, the weight of bulls reached 267.00 kg and cows reached 247.02 kg and at 18 months of age, the weight reached 356.98 kg and calves reached 329.00 kg.
The absolute growth of Senepol calves from birth to 3 months of age averaged 907.00 g/head/day. At the stage of 3 - 6 months is 673.78 g/head/day; The period from 6 months old to 9 months old reached 312.22 g/head/day; In the period of 9 - 12 months of age, the absolute growth of cows was 617.67 g/head/day and at 12 - 18 months of age, the absolute growth of cows was 482.78 g/head/day. Thus, the growth and development ability of Senepol cows was born and raised in Ba Vi, Hanoi at the same age as the place of import.
