Evaluation of some productivity indicators of a group of crossbred calves between Senepol cattle, Brahman cattle and Hybrid sin cattle in Binh Duong

Abstract

The research aims at evaluatinge the growth and development potential of two groups of Senepol crossbred calves from birth to 18 months of age under confined farming conditions in Binh Duong provine from April 2020 to March 2023. The experiment was assigned in a completely randomized design with one factor across 2 groups of crossbred calves, comprising 60 crossbred calves in each group (♂Senepol x ♀Pure Brahman (SSBB)) and 60 crossbred calves (♂Senepol x ♀ Red Sindhi Crossbreds (SSLS)). Each breed group consisted of 30 female and 30 male calves. The results showed that the birth weight of crossbreds (SSBB) with 27.27 kg, higher than the group (SSLS) with 24.22 kg (P < 0.030). The weights at 6, 12, and 18 months of age of the crossbred group (SSBB) were respectively, 143.72; 210.67 and 304.15 kg, Wich were higher as compared to group SSLS: 140.82; 202.50 and 295.67 kg in the same age class. The average weight gains of the two crossbred groups SSBB and SSLS respectively achieved: From birth to 6 months are  646.94 and 647.78 g/calf/day, from 6 to 12 months are 371.94 and 342.69 g/calf/day and from 12 to 18 months are 519.37 and 517.61 g/calf/day (P<0.05). With 2 groups of crossbred SSBB and SSLS capable of growth in nurturing conditions in Binh Duong province.
