Abstract

Research on the growth performance of beef crossbred between Wagyu bull with Red Angus crossbred cows (Red Angus x Zebu crossbred) and Charolais crossbred cows (Charolais x Zebu crossbred) at Ruminant Research and Development Center (RRDC). A total of 120 newborn calves comprised of 60 heads (Wagyu x (Red Angus x Zebu crossbred), WRZ) and 60 heads (Wagyu x (Charolais x Zebu crossbred), WCZ). The results showed that: The growth of WCZ was better than WRZ. The average body weight of WCZ at 6st and 12st month of age were 156.85 kg and 282.92 kg. The average body weight of WRZ at 6st and 12st month of age were 154.48 kg and 274.83 kg. The gain weight of WCZ was higher than WRZ. The highest gain weight was from birth to 3st month of age (721.57 gam/head/day in WCZ and 719.72 gam/head/day in WRZ). Throught the study, it can be concluded that Wagyu beef crossbred have good growth and development potential at Ruminant Research and Development Center.
