The study was conducted at the Community Veterinary Clinic, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry to evaluate the incidence, clinical symptoms of dogs with metritis in Thai Nguyen province and the effectiveness of treatment methods. Clinical diagnosis combined with ultrasound was used for evaluation in this study. The results showed that the rate of dogs with metritis was highest in the age group of 2 - 5 years old (21.32%), followed by over 5 years old (14.89%), and the lowest was under 2 years old (2.86%). Dogs that had never reproduced had a higher incidence of the disease than dogs that had reproduced. There are 2 forms of metritis: closed and open, with 69.23% of cases being closed and 30.77% of cases being open. Dogs with metritis have symptoms such as fatigue, lethargy, poor appetite, drinking a lot of water (92.31%), fever (53.85%), abdominal distension, abdominal pain (46.15%), vomiting, diarrhea (30.77%), vaginal discharge (33.33%). Surgical treatment has a much higher success rate (96.97%) than conservative treatment (33.33%).
