This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of shallot powder and cinnamon powder on the growth performance and gastrointestinal disease rates in Japanese quails from 1 day to 5 weeks of age. A total of 180 quails were allocated in a completely randomized design (CRD) comprising four treatments and three replicates per treatment: T1 (control), T2 (0.5 g SP), T3 (0.5 g CP), and T4 (0.25 g SP + 0.25 g CP). The results indicated that supplementation significantly improved the body weight of quails at 14 days of age (P<0.05). For the entire experimental period, although no statistically significant differences were observed (P>0.05), T1 achieved the highest average daily gain (4.43 g/bird/day), while T2 was the lowest (4.31 g/bird/day). The final body weight at 5 weeks was highest in T3 (162.67 g/bird) and lowest in T2 (161.58 g/bird) (P>0.05). The overall feed conversion ratio (FCR) was lowest in T4 (3.38) and highest in T1 (3.55) (P>0.05). Notably, the supplementation of cinnamon powder (T3) significantly reduced gastrointestinal disease (P<0.05) compared to the control group. Regarding economic efficiency, T3 yielded the highest profit (214,871 VND), while T1 was the lowest (205,540 VND). In conclusion, supplementing cinnamon powder at a level of 0.5 g is the most optimal approach to enhance health status and economic returns in quail production.
